Tragic Stampede at Satsang: 116 Killed, Hundreds Injured in Hathras

The stampede took place around 3:30 pm when Baba was leaving the venue after finishing Satsang. Followers ran back to have darshan of Bhole Baba and dust his feet, while people fell over each other in the roadside ditch as the crowd pressured from behind.

Hundreds of bodies were lying on the ice. Relatives of the deceased were waiting outside the post-mortem house in the drizzling rain to take the bodies back home. A similar horrifying scene was witnessed inside the Hathras government hospital on Tuesday night where 116 people were tragically killed and hundreds injured in a stampede during a satsang. Among the dead are 108 women and 7 children. He was part of the crowd of thousands who went to Bhole Baba’s ‘Sat Sang’ near Phulrai village in Sikanderrao region.

Due to the rain, there was mud around the venue due to which people suffocated to death. Many people died as they fell and were crushed in the crowd.

Sikandarau Community Health Center was the closest to the stampede site, where the injured were taken. Most people died before they got here. Many people searched for their missing family members outside the health center until late at night. Rajesh, a resident of Kasganj district, was looking for his mother, while Shivam was looking for his aunt. Both had mobile phones in their hands, in which pictures of their relatives were visible.
