Kate Winslet’s Hilarious On-Set Secret: How ‘The Regime’ Left Her in Stitches

Los Angeles: Kate Winslet shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes secret from the set of HBO’s hit mini series The Regime.

During the For Your Consideration (FYC) panel event on June 5, Winslet shared a particularly touching moment from filming the show’s fifth episode, “All Ye Faithful,” in which she burst into laughter.

The discussion pits Winslet’s character, Chancellor Elena Wernham, against her on-screen love interest, Herbert Zubock, played by Matthias Schoenaerts.

The couple visit a dream therapist to decode Herbert’s disturbing dreams. which was presented by comedian Julia Davis. Davis’s character offers a comically convincing analysis. In what the nightmare called “a healthy dream, a beautiful dream”, everyone on set was struggling to keep a straight face.

Recalling the moment, Winslet said, “Real pee. Real pee on the inside of my thigh. I’m sorry to say it. It was hilarious. I couldn’t breathe. … That was the only continuity. What we really improved on was what we went for.”

Winslet added, “At one point, we were down [on the floor] chanting and slapping each other. It was completely out of control.”

Show creator and showrunner Will Tracy also admitted that watching the filming of these scenes was a unique experience and described it as a combination of fun and pain.

The Regime, which premiered on HBO on March 3, 2024, captivated fans with its dark humor and compelling story.
