Adria Arjona Almost Walked Away from ‘Good Omens’: “I Was So Scared, I Tried to Quit”
In an interview with InStyle, actress Adria Arjona revealed that early career troubles forced her to abandon her role in the hit comedy series Good Omens before filming began.
Despite Good Omens creator Neil Gaiman‘s belief in her abilities, Adria Arjona tries with fierce self-confidence. “It was very stressful. I was very scared,” admitted Adria Arjona.
“And it was the first role that I had just been offered, which is very weird. I was at a point in my career where I shouldn’t have been offered anything.”

Good Omens, which debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2019, is based on the beloved 1990 novel by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The series stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen as a demon and an angel who team up to stop the apocalypse.
Adria Arjona’s insecurities were exacerbated by the unconventional mining process. Gaiman was adamant that he was good for the role.
“[Gaiman] was like, ‘No, it’s you. I see you and I only see you in this role,'” she shared.
“And I was like, how do you know who I am? It was the first time I felt insecure about my role because I didn’t earn it.”
His anxiety led to a daring confrontation with the director of the series. “I told her, ‘Look, you can shoot me on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in small scenes; you have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to find another actress.’ And he was like, ‘No, man, it’s gonna be you.’

Fortunately, Adria Arjona overcame her fears with Gaiman’s support. “Neil just took me under his wing and was like, ‘You’re going to be fine.'” She eventually accepted the role, which became one of her favorites.
Reflecting on her journey, Adria Arjona emphasizes her connection to her characters and the stories they help tell. He praised the mentors he had along the way, “If you have [creator] Neil Gaiman, you’re like, ‘I’m fine.”
Fans can watch Good Omens on Amazon Prime Video, while Arjona’s latest project Hit Man will be available on Netflix from June 7.
