PM Shehbaz Sharif Calls on Chinese Textile Giants: Pakistan Beckons with Promises of Security and Opportunity

To strengthen economic relations, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif invited Chinese companies, especially companies related to the textile industry, to start operations in Pakistan and promised to provide support and facilities from his government.

During the meeting, which focused on enhancing Pakistan-China cooperation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized China’s important role in Pakistan’s development. He outlined his ambitions to deepen cooperation not only in textiles but also in agriculture, information technology, and energy sectors to increase exports to China.

According to a press release issued by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif‘s office, various ministries shared proposals to strengthen economic ties between the two.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif assured the audience that thanks to the strong security plan already in place, foolproof security will be provided to Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister discussed preparations for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He expressed hope that Gwadar port can be transformed into a major logistics hub with China’s cooperation.

The second phase of CPEC will see the establishment of agricultural demonstration zones, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will urge ministries to develop new projects and strengthen business-to-business linkages with Chinese enterprises. He also highlighted China’s potential role in helping Pakistan formulate a strategy to boost its exports.

Several ministers, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
