Ban on Drones and Possible Mobile Internet Shutdown During Muharram for Security Reasons

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has banned the use of drones in processions and Ijlases during Muharram. The decision to shut down mobile internet will be made on the advice of security agencies.

According to the report of Down News, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which the security plan of Muharram in all four provinces and GB Azad Kashmir was reviewed.

In the meeting, there will be a ban on the use of drones in processions and assemblies from 1 Muharram to 10 Muharram. Apart from this, the decision to shut down the mobile internet will be made in consultation with the security agencies of the respective provinces. The processions and gatherings will be monitored through cameras. There will be security at mosques and Imambargahs.

Strict checking was ordered on the entry and exit routes of the processions in Islamabad.
